Bad Behavior Required!

Found this sign outside of a Mexican Resturant were I had lunch.

I know, it's a little cheesy to be eating out when my refrigurator door is about to pop open fron all the Thanksgiving left-overs, but there I was.

Obviously some smarty blacked over the word "NOT."   Needless to say the sign does require a double take

A Touch of Fall Color In Texas!

November 1st and the leaves are barely changing.  Weather in Dallas, Texas has been our typical Indian Summer. Well...almost!

It has been very wet here, the past two days has brought an unusual sighting of the sun.  Combined with temperatures in the 70's make for a perfect Autumn day.

The nights have barely dipped into the 50's, so it takes longer for the leaves to start changing down here.  But even in Texas the season changes eventually happen.

Taking advantage of the sunny day I snapped the pictures at the park near my home.  Showing off some of the local color from my corner of the world.

  Hope you enjoy!

Wecome to My Jungle!

Photo0190

This monstrous plant is a scheffleria that I have been growing for the past ten plus years.  When I first adopted this plant from the local K-Mart store nursery, it was in a six-inch pot, and just a scraggly little thing.

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I had to repot this plant, but over the past ten years it has been multiple times.  This last time I had to have assistance since it's so much bigger than myself.

I like to keep my houseplants outdoors during warm weather months, taking advantage of the warm Texas days and gentle rain showers.  I quickly learned scheffleria's love being outside too.  Once outside this little baby plant exploded in new growth with not much needed care at all.

This leads to my confession of my plant parenting skills.  Yes I was neglectful, yes I forgot to feed, and yes I forgot to water  I'm such a terrible parent.  So I learned that schefflerias are a very hardy plants.

Look at it now!

It is huge and completely hides it's pot.  The old pot was a 24 inch pot, that I re-potted it to one year ago.  It quickly grew till you couldn't tell it had been re-potted.

This photo was just taken yesterday.  Sadly right after taking this photo I had to prune back my baby.  I repotted the cuttings into it's old pot once I saw everyone of them had air-roots on them.

Will post an updated Posterous to show the pruned parent plant and hopefully it's brand new baby.
So stay tuned!

Caught Cha!

Photo0178

I share my bedroom with my three cats.  Too many times it appears when I open the bedroom door that I'm "catching them in the act" of something.

This time I had my camera phone in hand to capture their pose for all to see.  Just look at those guilty faces.

Actually I'm the one feeling guilty as I feel like I'm interupting them.  But on my bed?

Extract: The Movie Review!

Photo0133

Okay don't expect this one to be any sleeper at the Academy Awards.  But if you consider the source, the makers of "Office Space", it is a funny movie.

Definitely for the blue collared crowd, with it's story featured around a local extract factory.  Warning small kids will find it boring.

Anyone who works or has worked will be able to relate to the employees portrayed here,  from the Good 'Ol Boy to the company idiot, to the busy body.

And of course it all goes to hell when a rumor surfaces that the plant is up for sell.  Throw in marital infidelity of the plant owner, an injury accident a the factory, and of course we must have to have a sexy con-artist tramp.

I love the personal injury lawyer portrayed by "KISS" Gene Simmons.  Reminded me too much of the real ambulance chasing personal lawyers.

If you like movies that poke fun at real life, cause seriously that all this one does, don't forget the popcorn.

Mellow Yellow Returns

Photo0104

What you see in this picture is what is becoming a too often occurrence on the streets of  Dallas.

Yes folks this yellow monstrosity is none other than a Pimp-Mobile.

Take note they are easy to distinguish from your normal everyday vehicles.

The age of the car leaves you to wonder the miricles needed to achive motion.  Of course the eye catching paint job is a dead give away too.

Another noticeable fact is the total value of accessories on this thing, are worth more than the "BlueBook" value of the vehicle.

To Market, To Market...

Photo0114

Deep in the heart of the oldest part of the City of Dallas, is the city's only open air market.

It was first built in 1948, something in Dallas older than me.

The Market is made up of 4 enormous open barn-like metal structures.  One can find almost every kind of produce in or out of season.

The vendors are mostly wholesalers with one of the barns reserved for only locally grown fare.

The best part is every vendor has free samples of their goods for the passer-byers to try and compare.
